Profile definitions

An investor profile is a personalized assessment of an individual's financial situation, goals, and preferences, used to guide investment decisions. This information is gathered through a MIFID flow.

In the profile definition, we can define which scores should lead to which profiles. This profile is than displayed in the flow towards the counterparty and advisor. This helps the advisor define which investment products can be sold to the counterparty.

Profiler and profile definition

The profile calculation has two parts that work together:

  • The profiler is a Java class that turns the answers into a single number (the profile score). It contains the formula: which questions are taken into account and how their scores are combined. The default profiler sums the scores of all answered questions that have scored choices. A different formula (for example, taking the lowest of two sums) requires a custom profiler, which has to be requested.
  • The profile definition references the profiler by its class name and defines the profiles: their names, translations and the score range of each one. It maps the score to a profile.

Changing the score ranges or texts only requires changing the profile definition. Changing which questions count, or how, requires changing the profiler. A profile needs to be requested.

Score ranges

  • The minimum score is inclusive and the maximum score is exclusive (a range 0-120 followed by 120-250 puts a score of 120 in the second profile).
  • The ranges must cover every score the profiler can return. A score outside all ranges is a configuration error.
  • If the profiler cannot calculate a score (for example, not all required questions are answered), no profile is calculated.

The score of an answer is configured as the score on the choices of a question.

Profile configuration on the dossier definition

Link the profile definition in the Profile configurations of the dossier definition. Only one profile definition per profile type can be linked to a dossier definition.

Reference

The import envelope of a profile definition. This is the shape of the JSON file that importing a profile definition accepts and that exporting one produces.
